They are the Hidden. Not quite human. Far from normal. And never, ever safe . . . PLAYING WITH FIRERuby Salazaar wants answers . . . and revenge. Her uncle has just been murdered before her eyes and the name he utters with his final breath - Cyntag - leads Ruby into a world beyond her wildest imaginings. She soon learns that the dark, sexy Cyntag Valeron knows more about her than she does herself. BURNED BY LOVERuby changed Cyn's life before she even knew who he was. Now she charges into his life, a beautiful woman full of fire and questions. Cyn knew this day would come, yet he couldn't foresee the danger - and desires - Ruby would bring with her. He can teach her how to harness her newly awakened powers. But there is one force neither of them can control . . .

Ruby Salazaar was raised by her uncle Moncrief, when her parents died. Moncrief filled Ruby’s world with tales of dragons, magic and other creatures known as the Hidden.  When Ruby receives an urgent call from Moncrief, she rushes to his side only to find him killed by some type of odd glowing orb.  His last breath is a name – a name that Ruby knows from her uncle.  Now she is off to find and kill the man who killed her beloved uncle.

Cyntag Valeron is beyond surprised with Ruby shows up at his gym and then threatens him with a gun.  Even more surprising is learning why, that Moncrief is dead and how it happened.  As an over 200 year old dragon, Cyntag knows many things about Ruby that she doesn’t and now it appears it’s all on his shoulders to teach Ruby the truth about her heritage and to help her find out who killed her uncle and why.

Ruby can’t believe what Cyntag is telling her – that is until she releases her inner dragon and powers.  Ruby is a child in learning her dragon’s powers and strengths and unfortunately she really doesn’t have the time to learn them along the way.  Cyntag and Ruby split their time between training Ruby and hunting down the answers to just what happened to her uncle.  As the clues come together, it appears that the reason why goes back to when her parents died – now she knows that they were killed.  Along the way, Cyntag and Ruby also discover a passionate love that isn’t going to take ‘no’ for an answer.  All the answers are coming together and the danger is ramping up when Cyntag and Ruby finally know who was behind the glowing orbs, the death of her parents and uncle and the reason really behind it all.  The final battle is going to be a winner take all – the only question is will the team of Cyntag and Ruby have what it takes to win the day and put the magic world back on it’s correct path.

Take two feisty dragon shifters and toss in danger, suspense and a deep passion filled with love and you have just the beginning of Cyntag and Ruby’s story in Dragon Awakened.  I was amazed at how much Cyntag tried to control his need of Ruby while trying to show her just what her true being really was and trying to help her solve the mysterious deaths of her parents and uncle.  I really loved how Ruby continued to roll with the punches as each hit came – some worse than others.  When Cyntag and Ruby finally overcame the worse hurtle that should have torn them apart, I knew that nothing would be able to drive them apart except death.  Cyntag and Ruby’s journey to right the wrongs that were done by a totally unexpected source and to fulfill the love that blossomed between them is a fantastic start to a new and exciting series.  I really can’t wait to open up the second book in Ms. Rush’s engaging world.  Dragon Awakened is a rough and tumble story filled with passion, humor, and suspense that makes it a page-turner from start to finish.  I have a feeling that this is going to be a keeper series for sure.

Something sexy is afoot at Rackham's School for Young Ladies. Half-faerie, half-elf Hans Winter broke the heart of the wrong princess. Cursed to live as a statue at a school for human girls, only true love-and true bravery-can free him. December Worth never met a rule she didn't want to break, as the numerous institutions that have expelled her can attest. Bravery she can handle. Love she's less sure about, especially if it involves believing in fairytales. A kiss seems like the last thing these lonely souls would share, until one night in the cemetery where Hans stands trapped, Fate brings stone and flesh together . . .

December Worth could be called a problem child or even an instigator.  The truth is that unless she sees the reason for the rule, why bother following it.  She has been drifting her entire life to find something that pulls her in that direction.  Once again, December has been thrown out of her boarding school and her parents have sent her to her last chance to obtain the last of her education and make something of herself.  So December finds herself at Rackham’s School for Young Ladies.  Right off December realizes that something is off with some of the teachers.

December follows her normal trend of hunting all the hidden spots of the school to learn what is what.  This leads her to a statue that not only draws her attention, but also leads to very hot and steamy dreams.  Hans Winter is half elf and half faerie who ended up on the wrong side of the faerie queen’s temper and is now encased in a stone statue and can only be freed by loved.  When December finds Hans in a seemingly forgotten cemetery, Hans believes she just might finally be the one that will free him.

December tries to figure out if she is suddenly having a breakdown at a really young age or if Hans is a real person and has been cursed.  As December and Hans both work to free him, it seems that the faerie queen isn’t ready to let bygones be bygones and has set up a plot to not only keep Hans cursed but to lead to his being destroyed forever.  When push comes to shove, will Hans and December find the keys to free both of them for a lifetime of love or will the faerie queen get her ultimate revenge.

Take one inquisitive student, one hot and seemingly forgotten male statue and one revengeful and powerful queen and you have the twisted plot which only true love could defeat.  Hans and December learn just what love is capable of in Winter’s Tale.  I felt sorry for Hans as I learned just what had been done to him and why.  December’s hunt for her new school’s secrets brought her more than she would have imagined when she not only found Hans’ statue but captured his love.  I loved how the night everything came down, it was the instant trust that happened between Hans and December that brought them to safety and to a future both only dreamed about.  Winter’s Tale is a tale of jealously, passion, revenge and the best type of love, all of which combines allowing two people to find each other under the most unexpected circumstances. A great way to spend a few hours on a chilly winter’s night.

Do you believe in dragons? Werewolf cop Rick Lupone would say no . . . until a dying faerie tells him the fate of his city depends on him. If he can’t protect a mysterious woman in peril, everything may be lost. The only discovery more shocking is that the woman he’s meant to save is his high school crush, Cass Maycee. Half fae Cass didn’t earn her Snow White nickname by chance. All her life, her refusal to abuse fae glamour kept men like Rick at arm’s length. Now something new is waking up inside her, a secret heritage her pureblood father kept her in the dark about. Letting it out might kill her, but keeping it hidden is no longer an option. The dragons’ ancient enemies are moving. If they find the prize before Rick and Cass, the supe-friendly city of Resurrection just might go up in flames.“I have fallen in love with Emma Holly’s Hidden series and all its characters.—Joyfully Reviewed

Cassia “Cass” Maycee is back home in Resurrection after her grandmother’s death.  While Cass loves having the feeling of the magic back around her, she isn’t quite sure what she is going to do now that she is home.  Being half fae and half human puts Cass in an unusual position in Resurrection, because the fae are highly respected and revered since they created the pocket that Resurrection resides in.  Moving into her grandmother’s home was natural for Cass, yet now it feels like something or someone is constantly watching her – a feeling that has never happened to her before.

Rick Lupone is a werewolf cop, along with his brother and some of his pack.  Born and raised in Resurrection, Rick has seen many unbelievable things and yet as a cop, he keeps a very level head.  When he and his brother answer a call about a fight in the subway, Rick is amazed to see two full blooded fae fighting with swords – that is pretty unheard of.  Even more amazing is when one of the fae tells Rick that he has been selected to save someone and it’s someone that he already knows and it’s important for the future of everyone.  Rick has no idea if he believes this until he feels the need to check in with a girl he knew in high school who is back in town.

Cass can’t believe that her high school crush is at her door and even sexier now that he has grown up.  She also isn’t sure she believes that she is the person that Rick must protect until magic and assassins prove otherwise.   Danger is on their heels when Rick and Cass try to figure out not only who is after her but why.  Cass has been out of the pocket for many years and can’t think of any reason a full-blooded fae might be fighting for her and then send Rick to her.  Passion flares to life as Rick and Cass work at discovering the answers and this time they don’t even try to ignore it.  When it appears that Cass’s memories have the answer and that those memories lead to the very creation of the pocket that Resurrection lives in, both realize that things are about to get even hotter.  Rick and Cass go into hiding as her memories come clearer and the unbelievable becomes the truth – a truth that both Rick and Cass will fight for to keep out of the wrong hands.  Fate and destiny have always carried sway in Resurrection and now it’s up to Rick and Cass to make sure that the right fate and destiny happen to save their charges, their town and their love.

High school crushes become passionate lovers while fulfilling a destiny that will save the town they both love in Hidden Dragons.  The heat between Rick and Cass flamed the minute they set eyes on each other after so many years since their first innocent crushes.  I wasn’t surprised that they were hot enough to equal a dragon’s flame when they let that passion free.  As I watched Cass come to terms with her past, the betrayals – even if they were lovingly done, and finally her determination to save what was put into her hands for safety, I knew that she was the perfect person for just that job.  Rick had watched two of his pack find love and was a bit envious until his dream girl came home.  I loved that Rick immediately accepted the job to protect Cass once he realized that was his destiny.  That Rick not only protected Cass but was loving support as Cass faced her memories and heartbreak, told me right off that they had to end up together.  I didn’t quite expect how the future turned out but I have also learned to expect the unexpected when I visit Resurrection.  I’ve said it before and I have to say it again, I love all of Ms. Holly’s characters in her Hidden series and I’m always fulfilled when I read one of those books.  Rick and Cass’s crazy path to a lifetime filled with love and dragons had me turning pages as fast as I possibly could until there were no more pages to turn.  Hidden Dragons hit absolutely every element I love, hot passion, great suspense, a bit of humor to keep things level and a wonderful set of characters you would love to meet and just chat with.  For those reasons and many more, I Joyfully Recommend Hidden Dragons as a must read.
