Not by any stretch of the imagination could Sarah Anderson consider her upbringing normal.  Her father is a gun running survivalist, her stepmom Mimi is the daughter of a violent mobster and she’s a well known assassin.  As for her mother, many if not all of Sarah’s vices and bad habits can be laid at the door of her thieving, alcoholic grifter mom.  The one innocent in Sarah’s life is Swan, her twin, high functioning autistic sister.  At the moment Sarah’s last name is Star and she’s legitimately a World Pole Dancer and Miss March in Playboy.  Quite the resume.

Needless to say by the time she meets Carlos ‘Beach’ Rodriquez, President of the Iron Horse MC in Sturgis. she’s well equipped to handle the biker.  Beach on the other hand isn’t quite sure what to make of Sarah.  First, she’s a hot body and then she’s helping him survive a kidnapping attempt, among other lethal activities.  The one thing Beach knows for certain is that Sarah belongs right beside him – for as long as they live.

Feisty doesn’t begin to describe Sarah.  Add in deadly survivor skills, determination, and a quick wit, as well as hiding a tender heart under it all.  Author Ann Mayburn takes readers back in Exquisite Redemption to the time when Sarah and Beach first meet.  The down and dirty gritty biker life permeates in Exquisite Redemption.  And the flavor of the MC lifestyle leaps off the pages as Sarah and Beach take turns telling the story of their beginning.  Absolutely riveting tale.

Identical twin sisters Sue Wanda ‘Swan’ and Sarah Anderson had an extremely unique upbringing.  Separated as young girls, Swan was raised by her Special Ops/survivalist father and Mafia princess assassin stepmother, while Sarah lead a gypsy lifestyle with their grifter mother.  Finally reunited as teens they had difficulty reconnecting until a misunderstanding over a boyfriend almost destroyed their bond completely.

Living on her own in Houston, Swan works as a waitress at a strip club to support herself and pay for a second master’s degree.  Swan is unaware that she’s being guarded, watched over by Miguel ‘Smoke’ Santos, Master at Arms for the Austin chapter of the Iron Horse MC  Her protection began weeks ago because her mother stole something belonging to the Iron Horse MC, something the Russian mob wants and something men in Vegas are interested in.

Innocent of any involvement in her mother’s actions, Swan is embroiled in the mess because of her mother and because Sarah is engaged to Beach, President of the Iron Horse MC based in Austin.  Everyone is aware that Sarah is trying to find their parent, more importantly very few know that Sarah has an identical twin sister.

Trying to keep Swan safe and ignorant of what’s happening becomes impossible so Smoke is told to bring her to Austin.  Already half in love with the sweet, virginal twin Smoke’s feelings are returned as Swan falls under his spell.  Everyone is after Swan to use her for leverage of one kind or another, except Smoke.  All he cares about is keeping his woman safe and well loved.  As the dangers mount their love becomes stronger.  Unfortunately powerful loving won’t protect them forever.

Exquisite Trouble brings a raw, gritty, and brutal world to light where innocence and purity walk hand in hand with death.  Swan is an enigma, virginal, and genuine, yet because of her upbringing she can name, clean, and shoot any weapon you hand her.  Smoke and the world of Iron Horse MC he inhabits is a place few could survive.  The language is rough and the people even more so.  The Iron Horse MC novels are original and entirely fascinating.  A character driven suspense filled tale Exquisite Trouble blends a pulse pounding drama with a believable romance.  It’s not tender, it’s erotic and it’s purely addicting.

It feels as though the entire world of criminals and cutthroats have Swan and Sarah Anderson on their radar.  Swan and her lover Miguel ‘Smoke’ Santos are heading to Denver after getting a tip from the local Iron Horse MC that the twins’ mother and Sarah have been sighted in Colorado.  It’s also a fast learning curve for Swan to get acclimated to the life of someone in a relationship with a biker, especially one as high up in the Iron Horse hierarchy.  Loving Smoke has been the easy part on her heart and the hard part for her independent nature.

Finding out that the twins’ mother stole a huge amount of money and a trailer full of weapons explains why everyone wants her so badly.  There’s no love lost between the girls and their mother, but she is their mother so finding her before anyone else is imperative.  Even worse Sarah is still out there alone trying to find her.

False rumors endanger Swan after arriving in town and meeting the Denver chapter which forces them to accept the fact that there are traitors in their midst. Swan and Smoke must find her mother and Sarah as well as expose the guilty within the club.  Then they can explore their intense feelings for each other and take things to the next level.  Easy, right?

Suspenseful for the start, Exquisite Danger takes readers on a heart pounding romantic adventure.  Intense characterizations continue to develop in the second Iron Horse MC Novel series.  Swan and Smoke have a fierce relationship, passionate and erotic, while at the same time rough and raw.  The dialogue is gritty and realistic for the biker lifestyle.  Exquisite Danger is an exciting love story, but definitely not your average romance.

Separated from her identical twin sister, Sarah, at a young age due to their parents’ divorce, Sue Wanda “Swan” Anderson did not develop a close relationship with her sister until they were almost adults.  Now, at the age of twenty, Sarah is missing due to their mother’s selfish, dangerous behavior and Swan has been drawn into a treacherous game simply because she looks like Sarah.

Miguel “Smoke” Santos has been assigned to keep Swan safe.  After countless days and nights of watching Swan from afar, Smoke has grown to care deeply for her. So, when Swan’s life becomes endangered from her estranged mother’s double-crossing scheme, Smoke will do whatever it takes to protect his woman.

I so detest being on the fence about a book. I am torn between loving and hating Ann Mayburn’s Exquisite Trouble.  Taken as a whole, I am greatly intrigued by the storyline; however, I am not too hot on the main character’s personalities.  There are times whereby I did not like Smoke at all.  While I do understand the ‘Biker’s World’ mentality, I personally thought Smoke to be a bit too extreme.  Yet, I know without a doubt that he loves Swan unconditionally.  Likewise, with Swan’s background, I would have expected her to be more aware of the danger that surrounds her, though she does have some qualities that I find to be adorable.  The sex is naughty and very passionate and the chemistry between Smoke and Swan is explosive.  None the less, I wish that I did not feel so negatively about some parts of the book.
