Nexi Jones is a witch and a trained Elite Guardian who lost her entire family twice, first her birth family and then her adopted family.  Now Nexi is trying to live her life with a new family of friends and her lover on the other side of the veil.  There is a lot that Nexi can handle, but the idea of losing anyone else she cares for isn’t one of them.  So, when what appears to be a new serial killer begins taking out Guardians and Others, Nexi is ready to bring him down. Then he kills someone that hits very close to home.

Kyden was Nexi’s trainer and now he is her partner, boyfriend, and lover.  Kyden knows that Nexi will not let anyone shelter her, and yet he can’t help himself for wanting to do just that, especially when their hunt brings danger against Nexi and clues show that the killers might be targeting Nexi overall.  Knowing that he might be damaging their relationship, Kyden tries to keep Nexi out of the worst of the fighting…like she would allow that to happen.

Nexi understands why Kyden is acting as he is, and yet Nexi knows that she has to be allowed to fight her battles, even when she comes out of it with bruises and scrapes.  The Counsel and all of the Guardians are ready to go after the ringleader when that person is identified, and they believe that they have found the entire group of killers.  It’s a fierce battle, and it appears that the good guys are winning until they realize that Nexi is missing and has been taken to places unknown.  Can Kyden and Nexi’s friends get to Nexi before she becomes the next Guardian to die, or will Nexi have to take care of this matter herself to save herself and those she loves?

Nexi and Kyden are just finding their way in their relationship when their next huge challenge appears: a killer who seems to have a vendetta out for Nexi in Witches Be Burned.  I knew that after Nexi took care of the person who destroyed both her families, she believed that life might now be just settling down into her relationship with Kyden and learning her gifts better.  While I could understand where Kyden was coming from, I really could not believe that he tried to keep Nexi out of the fighting when it counted.  However, I could tell just how much they were in love as I watched while they worked it out and became even closer because of it.  I loved meeting Nexi’s new familiar and can’t wait to watch as this new partnership grows and just how Kyden deals with it.  I foresee many smiles in this area. Witches Be Burned is full of so many types of love that each page brought something new: the exciting love of new lovers, of friendships, of partners, and a new special relationship of a witch and her familiar and it is all mixed with just enough suspense and danger to be a page turner.

Nexi Jones—part witch, part guardian, and wannabe kick-ass warrior—can’t throw a punch or conjure the simplest magic. But that doesn’t stop her from hunting the werewolves who slaughtered her human family. She’ll have her revenge, but only if Kyden, the elite guardian, would get the hell out of her way.Kyden can’t decide if Nexi wants to get herself killed or if she just has no clue what she’s doing. But her father made it clear: keep Nexi safe…or else. Of course, the more Nexi runs toward revenge, the more she needs Kyden’s aid, and as she grows into her power and confidence, so does his desire to protect her. The only problem? She’d rather he dropped dead. But when a vampire paints a bull's-eye on Nexi’s back, she’s hard-pressed to deny Kyden and the help he’s offering. Even if it means getting her revenge will be a little bit harder. At least it will still be as sweet.

Nexi Jones is in a new life after learning what she had always known was a lie.  Nexi was born half a witch and half a guardian and so far is the only one like that known to exist.  Now after being saved by guardians when her adopted family is killed, Nexi has found herself in the Otherworld surrounded by people whose job it is to protect human kind from others who prey on them.  Nexi has to learn the skills to use the powers from both sides of her biology so that she can be the person she was always meant to be.  One of those helping her or alternately making her mad is a sexy guardian named Kyden.

Kyden is one of the elite guardians for the Council who rule the Otherworld.  Part of his job is to help train the younger guardians and now his job is to train Nexi and bring out all the potential that is just simmering within her.  It would be much easier to do if he didn’t also want to get her horizontal on or against any surface that was handy.  There is another problem in that Kyden knows that Nexi is only willing to learn to be a guardian warrior right now so she can revenge her adopted parents’ murders.  Kyden is searching for a way to help Nexi achieve her goals and obtain all the power that is within her without letting her lose herself in the need for revenge.

Nexi and Kyden have been sent on a mission to find out why werewolves are suddenly breaking the rules left and right and have no fear of being brought to the Council’s justice.  During the investigation, Nexi learns that the same werewolves who killed her adopted parents are also behind this madness.  Now she just has to figure out a way to get them cornered and end them.  Much easier said than done as Nexi is also learning that the majority, and also the leader of the werewolves, are honorable people and against killing humans.  While on this mission, Nexi and Kyden’s feelings explode into mind stopping passion.  The mission takes on a more serious nature now that Nexi is a full guardian and both Kyden and Nexi want to protect the other when out.  A trap has been set, but who is it going to catch – the werewolves or the guardians? And just where are Nexi and Kyden and their blooming love going to end up?

Two strong willed people learn about passion, strength and compromise as they battle evil to protect the innocent in Werewolves Be Damned.  I loved how Nexi and Kyden just meshed together so naturally both as lovers and as kicking guardians.  I was worried at first that the anger and need for revenge would blind Nexi to what really mattered, but with Kyden’s love and that of those around her in the Otherworld, she was able to do what needed to be done without losing herself.  I watched as Kyden learned to support Nexi while still fighting with her when it was needed.  The feelings and passion between them all but leapt off the pages from the very beginning until the last page was turned.  This isn’t my first time with Nexi and Kyden, and yet this time there was just so much more in their relationship and the story.  Don’t get me wrong, I loved them the first time around but now I can’t wait to see the next several chapters as their romance blooms and they fight evil together.  Werewolves Be Damned is fast paced and action packed, be it through the passion or the fighting. A page turner that will remain on my e-reader for a long time to come.  Okay, so where is the next one at?
