Yet another fairy party to attend though this time August is the unspoken guest of honor. The King and Queen are showing off their brand new daughter to their subjects while pretending that no one suspects August helped them conceive.
He was repaying a debt. The royals saved the energy vampire at a time when he was in dire need. The damage was so bad that August is permanently scarred in a place he cannot hide which is why all the fairies are treating him like a leper. Their vanity makes them unable to even look him in the eye. Ironically the only one who is willing to approach the lonely vampire is Daniel, a fairy with a damaged wing. Drawn together by circumstances or fate, August and Daniel begin their own dance of seduction.
A disfigured vampire lives surrounded with Perfection and the price is solitude until he meets a lonely fairy. August survived but the outcome is sometimes more than he can bear. In a quick read where vanity is the norm, a decent soul finds his own brand of Perfection in the arms of a broken fairy. An effective and tender moral.
